Dans cette œuvre calligraphique d’une extrême finesse, Cryptik a choisi de recouvrir les murs d’un texte chargé de sens. Ainsi, il enjoint sur un ton philosophique et spirituel, à vivre de la meilleure manière qu’il soit, débutant par l’injonction : « Dans le temps qu’il t’est donné de vivre, vis. » Tel un mantra, ce texte s’adresse directement au spectateur, rappelant l’amour de l’artiste pour la calligraphie, ainsi que sa volonté d’amener chacun à réfléchir sur le sens profond de la vie. Cette œuvre également prend tout son sens dans son contexte : située au-dessus de la célèbre librairie de Nicole Maruani, c’est une nouvelle façon de donner à voir la littérature présente au sein des murs.
In this extremely refined work of calligraphy, Cryptik has chosen to cover the walls with a text pregnant with meaning. Thus, in a philosophical and spiritual tone, he enjoins the viewer to live in the best possible way, starting with the precept: “In the time that is given you to live, live.” Like a mantra, this text addresses the viewer directly, evoking both the artist’s love of calligraphy and his wish to urge each person to reflect on the deeper meaning of life. This work also is also particularly relevant to its context: situated above the celebrated Nicole Maruani bookshop, it is a new way of drawing attention to the literature to be found within.
